The battery charges during the day through sunlight and then releases the stored energy by lighting. The light is switched on automatically by the twilight sensor. The house number is operated with 20% of the light output after dusk. As soon as someone approaches and movement is detected in the sensor's detection range, the light switches to 100% for 15s. This makes it a wall light as well as a house number light. With a light color of 2,200 K, the solar light is particularly insect-friendly, as this value is outside the visible range for insects, so they are not attracted to the additional light source.
